An ancient evil has returned to stake its claims to the western lands… its eyes focused on Wythreall, the place where it was defeated a thousand years earlier.
The mythical Armor of God is needed if there is any chance of defeating the approaching enemy… but the armor is said to have disappeared a thousand years earlier – at the moment when King Haldred, the first to wear the armor, defeated that same enemy… and only an heir of Haldred can wear the armor into battle.
Only four such heirs remain, including Prince Henry, eldest prince of Wythreall, and his younger brother, Tyrus, their father’s heir apparent and chosen son to wear the armor. Sent on a quest led by Tyrus to search for the scattered pieces of the armor, Henry and ten Companions journey to the far reaches of their world where they will encounter foes who seek to end their quest, unexpected allies, and moments of betrayal.
As the Companions search for the Armor, Henry will find himself in a quest to discover his true self. There will be friends amongst his company who will play key roles, as will the auburn-haired Princess Maeve of the forested lands of Duinbrook by the western oceans. Each will have a hand in guiding Henry to see what they see in him, and thereby help Henry begin to understand both who he is, and the true meaning of the Armor of God.
Henry’s personal quest to be his authentic self is also a story version of what I speak about in the movement to Moving Beyond Boxes and Shine 🌟.

The mythical Armor of God was returned to its home in Wythreall. And yet, the celebrations around the kingdom over its return, along with the expectations of the armor’s abilities in the coming battle, are premature.
The ancient enemy is on the move. Saurtus and his Dark Army are closing in on the one place his eyes have been focused since he was defeated a thousand years earlier: Wythreall. The closer he gets, the more he can taste his impending victory, no longer worried about the Armor of God… or of the one who wears it.
Indeed, an heir of King Haldred, who was the first and only king to wear the armor, will wear the recovered armor and lead an army into battle. However, he is untested as both a warrior and leader, leading to questions about his abilities from senior commanders. Thus, as the young king takes command of the army growing around him, he must demonstrate an ability to stand on his own and navigate the rapids that are the diplomatic negotiations of royalty. At the same time, he also needs to complete his own personal quest and confront his fears in order to find his authentic self before the battle begins, or all is in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, the auburn-haired Princess Maeve from the forested western lands of Duinbrook marches closer to Wythreall… yet will the force she leads arrive in time to play a role in the final fight? Also, will the Armor of God be enough to save the western lands, or will Saurtus finally control that which was kept from him a millennium ago?
Henry’s personal quest to be his authentic self is also a story version of what I speak about in the movement to Moving Beyond Boxes and Shine 🌟.

What is it like to know who you are at your core – your authentic self – and what you are called to do in this life, only to find the world has chosen to resist you because of how it’s elected to view aspects of who you are… especially ones that you have no control over?
Against The Grain: Finding Belonging in a World of Resistance is an exploration of what it means to actively choose to resist a resistant world… to break free from whatever boxes, labels, stigmas, etc., it’s decided to use to define us.
I was both the publisher for this anthology, and one of the authors.

Through “Rebel With A Cause,” we see a powerful movement celebrating resilience, innovation, and the spirit of change. Each chapter is the story of each author’s rebellion against the ordinary whereby they ignite the extraordinary… where they make a difference as they seek to bring about change, to address injustices, or they advocate for important social, political, or cultural issues.

A compelling exploration of what it means to break free from the labels and stigmas that society imposes on us… to move through the adversities that held us back for so long in a “box” (often placed there by others who then held some type of control over us), only to break free and become stronger. Through insightful analysis and inspiring stories, our authors offer practical advice on embracing our full potential and true self.
My chapter, “To Label or Not to Label the Box… That is the Question,” discusses both the issues around boxes and labels, as well as business applications.
I was both the publisher for this anthology, and one of the authors.

I live in the grey zones of life because I don’t – and never did – fit the boxes located outside them.
All my life others told me where I belonged… what and who I was… tried to pull me out of the beauty of the grey zones of life to fit their neat boxes… and failed – miserably.
Even when some tried to define me by small aspects of my authentic self, they utterly failed…
I refuse their labels 🏷 and boxes 📦… instead remaining in the grey… to stay free to be me…
